OP has to look at his needs and then drive both trucks. The Colorado is getting rave reviews from enthusiast magazines. The new off road package (ZR2) appears to be extremely well regarded...if your want that type of package.
There are some in my family that wouldn't look at a full sized truck...no matter the manufacturer and of course vice versa.
One of them bought a new 2017 Nissan Frontier Pro 4X. Great off road suspension, 4 liter V6...very nice package and he can get it into his garage. I doubt if he will ever tow more than about 3500-4000 lbs...which is well under the tow rating for this truck. It's perfect for him.
I think much advice from different posters, albeit well meant...is more about what they would want and given the fact this forum is expressly for RV'ers...almost invariably trucks favoured here is based on how much they can tow.
It's like going to a Digital single lens camera reflex forum. You'll find because the audience for the most part is about sophisticated camera equipment, not to many are going to favour a cell phone camera or a point and shoot. Their view will be solidly for expensive, heavy duty cameras such as a Nikon D810, Canon 5D4, Pentax K-1, etc.
