For those of us that use trucks. It needs to be rated under SAE J2807. It needs to cover 500 miles in a 10 hour day. I need it rated for at least a 12,000# 5er. I do not need an expensive grocery getter or lawn ornament. I am willing to pay for performance, but not for feeling good.
We will also need infrastructure at campgrounds. I don't really see a solution for dry camping for 2 or 3 days in the boonies. We dry camp and do light 4 wheeling for about 2 or 3 days, where do I charge? The last one is the real deal killer for me.
A 5 gallon jug of diesel that weighs 40#, with a low fire danger, gets me 10 mpg towing, 15 mpg 4 wheeling, or 19 mpg naked on a good level road. Energy density is a key as is easy transport.
