Just because you can do something, doesn't mean that you should. Generating electricity is a filthy business, nothing green about it. Don't start with solar and wind, start with the mining to produce the components.
Mining cannot be totally eliminated. But it can be reduced by solar, wind and other alternative energy sources.
Some California homes and new developments are still connected to the grid, but not a few are totally free of drawdown from the electric utilities and during some season, they actually net supplier to the grid.
Do the math of how many coal burning plants will be mothballed once the state achieve their true electric energy independence.
I was talking about the mining to produce the materials used in solar panels, wind turbines and the considerable power lines required. This is usually not considered by those with an agenda.
