Please note that half the cost of the project is being subsidized by the Air Quality District. It will be interesting to see how many acres of solar it takes to supply it.
I remember reading that it will take 1 mega watt to charge the Semi in a similar fashion to autos. That was based on a 4-500 kw battery pack, which seems about what it will use. Now figure 5-8 stalls per site and that’s not inexpensive per station.
I’ve read that they have about 1000 deposits. The total Class 8 truck sales last year were right at 250000. Tesla is going to have to partner with some one to build the charging network. They just can’t afford it.
