Chevy Trailer Sway Control

The Reese sway control will stop the sway before it starts. The Chevy sway control will try to stop the sway once it starts. Keep the Reese.

My 2012 Silverado 2500 has all of that, it comes with the Z85 package I believe. Supposedly its electronic and if it senses sway it applies braking to both truck and trailer. I believe there is a video on "YouTube". I'll try to find it.
I have a Reese Friction sway devise, I still use it on long trips, have not noticed the GM sway control activate yet.
One feature I really like that is part of the towing system is the "Hill Hold" feature.
I have noticed this a few times, if we are at a light on a hill the brakes stay on until you give it throttle. There is an icon that flashes on the dash when this happens, I believe its the Traction Control system light indicating it is activated.

I use the equalizer four point hitch and it is by far the best I've owned.

Great point. I had to switch from 750lb bars to 1,000lb bars since my new trailer has more hitch weight & the creaking, popping & groaning is driving me nuts. I know, I know. If it's noisy, it's working.

Use both since you already them.

The truck sway control will not do a thing till the sway gets ugly. Like air bags, you hope that you will never get to use them.

If the Chevy sway control is activated, you have something very wrong.

As stated above ^^^^^, sounds like you have something set up wrong. Tell us more about your set up, weights if you have them, and what exactly and when you are experiencing your sway.

Now all they being said/asked, if your TT is heavy, you will undoubtedly experience some sway on windy conditions, higher speeds, or when a semi passes because you have a 1/2 ton. Not knocking the 1/2 ton at all (I had one and it towed well), but since they weigh less than bigger trucks, some tail-wagging-the-dog can exist at certain conditions.

I have an Equal-i-zer and sway control in my 2009 Sport Trac. Tows like a dream. Never have ever experienced any sway. Amazing combination.
