Chicken Tax Finally Being Phased Out
Recent free trade agreements with 40 nations around the world will effectively roll back the Chicken Tax. We probably won't see a ton of foreign trucks rush in, but it opens the door.

According to the article, Thailand still has the option of joining and they've expressed interest. Other nations also have the option of joining.
I think Thailand has a FTA with the US, that could be one reason to join. Personally I do not see much change either way, except a new Global launch of a Pickup Truck could include North America- Maybe I can buy one of these?
- One would expect pricing change with the end of an 25% import tax...
Unless the OEMs then gouge their customers by keeping the 25% tax for themselves. - The problem is compact pickups aren't doing well now and no one is building the equivalent of the 1/2 ton trucks.
Realistically, I don't see it having much impact. - More like what's in a name. Manufacturers just took the name and went back over the Pacific and used them there? Nissan and Toyota build their US market trucks here, don't they. Only 'threat' if there is one, is if the trucks from over there are more car like, and more suited to what a lot of families are using trucks for here, but with better fuel economy. The new minivan.............but cooler.

meh - Betcha the price of full sized trucks (pickups/SUVs/etc) will also drop...
Competition is always a good thing for consumers...
