China Bomb got me, now to repair

I had a 3 year old chinese tire blow on me yesterday. Luckily it caused very minor damage. The only thing it messed up is a vapor barrier type covering. It almost looks like a black tarp material underneath covering the wood subfloor. What is that material, and where can I get it???

I'm gonna have some Goodyear Endurance tires put on in the next week or so.

Thanks

  • X2 on the scrim tape. It's made for RVs and is quite a bit thicker than gorilla tape and would be a good choice for the area above the wheels. Available at RV parts vendors and online.
  • You can also use scrim tape. I got some from Amazon, I believe. It’s used to repair Darco.
  • Thanks for the info. The Darco and Mobile flex were the key words I needed.
  • Good call. Endurance is made in the USA. I think that the quality control might be better than tires made in China. (I sure hope so, anyway -- I have 20,000 miles on my Endurance tires.)
  • Road hazard so it's a "Chinese bomb?" Under inflated so it's a "Chinese bomb?" Lots of UV exposure so it's a "Chinese bomb?" Over weight so it's a "Chinese bomb?" High speed so it's a "Chinese bomb?" Of course it couldn't be anything you did or didn't do.
  • I don't know where you buy that stuff. It's like a woven plastic right that's breathable? I would think some plastic landscape fabric would do the same thing.
