How well I remember that when I'd posted that FCA's days of existence were numbered as they were unsustainable long time due the very aged manufacturing facilities and viability. I was blasted relentlessly by many cheerleading FCA forum members. Read the news and get educated for once! FCA's chickens have come home to roost and remember that Sergio and the Fiat family had literally begged another large corporation like GM or VW etc to buy FCA guised as a merger as the hand writing was on the wall. However, NOT one was interested or even offered and would simply wait for the bankruptcy and buy for cents on the dollar for anything they wanted.
Very soon, there will be no choice for FCA and their only hope left is the Chinese and the Chinese are really only interested in the Jeep portion which is 38%+ of the profitability of FCA and FCA would fold so quick with losing that 38% as they are already stopping the build or several model lines as they do not sell. The Chinese do NOT want or will not continue Ram trucks or nearly any of the other FCA vehicles either as the sales are plumeting. Ram will almost assuredly be gone as will the rest of FCA's vehicle offerings as was well stated in several WSJ and other financial business publications.
Simple to understand as Ram doesn't even offer an engine owned by FCA and made in the USA and mostly sold in the USA for the 2500/3500 Rams as they are either the Cummins owned/made and sold to FCA, shipped to Mexico, and installed in Mexico built 2500/3500 Rams, which are all built there and shipped back north, imported, and sold. Or the other engines made in Mexico (hemi) or the Italy made (Ecodiesel) and then imported to the USA. (the Hemi) which is in the 2500/3500 Mexican made Rams or the Ecodiesel made in Italy and are shipped to the USA and installed in 1500 Ram trucks also. So inefficient and a such waste of money and the Chinese will not work that way! They will supply!
The Chinese have no use or demand for the Cummins 6.7L diesel or the Hemi or the full sized truck and they already make their own much smaller diesel engine and gas engine for a smaller sized pickup truck which would sell in Asia, Europe, South America, Africa, etc. They certainly would not be buying engines from Cummins or Mexico in any quantity and importing them to the USA, Canada, or Asia, etc when they have their own engines they make and they can also make the truck chassis for a fraction of the cost in China. Cummins has already taken notice as it will leave a big hole for them!
Stay tuned!
