Volvo is owned by Geely from China. Jaguar is owned by Tata from India. Both are still based and built in Sweden and Britain. Both Geely and Tata have put a lot of money into these companies and their cars have never been better.
They may be better but J.D. Power just reported both at the bottom of the list on initial quality.

Heck no, they are about as far from "never been better" as you can get. Back when Volvo was building the one and two series bricks, they were about about as bulletproof as a car can get. They have been declining ever since. Now they are no different than other eurotrash brands. Overpriced, over-complicated, unreliable and expensive to repair and maintain. When it comes to the Jag, and Rover brands, that isn't worth even bothering to respond to. Jags and Rovers are nothing but leased trophy trash. You spend $800 a month for a few years, and let the dealer come get it, every few weeks when it dead again. They give you a fancy loaner, you think you're important, and you sign up for another one at the end. You would need to be a fool to actually outright own one, especially after the warranty is done. Jalopnik has a great running series by of their writers, who owns a slightly used Rover. If there is a bigger piece of sheet on the planet, it would be tough to find.
All have greatly improved sales dramatically since leaving Ford. Jaguar/ LR especially . Ford would want them back but not now.
