I have a superchip programer on my Ford F250 7.3
it has 3 settings
safe tow
perf tow
hi perf (no tow)
I forget the hp increase in each
it also has a diagnosed mode which is nice if you ever
have problem and throw a code
I use the Hi perf mode when not loaded
I use the perf tow when carry camper and towing
of course you want gauges with this
and when it's smog time I return to stock
been running this along with this list of mods for 10yrs
with no problems but this is a Ford 7.3

4" k&n intake
ATS compressor shell on turbo
banks big head
4" turbo back exhaust
FXR fuel rail cross over
HPO crossover
boast fooler
Like I said runs great sounds great pulls great and great mpg
