Perth Caravan show this year had the biggest display of 5'ers and Pickups, March this year I have ever seen. GMC, Ford F series, Chevrolet Silverado & Dodge Ram.
Yes, other vehicles get chipped, all over the world.
This forum is about Truck Campers & this thread is about Chipping a Dodge Ram.
If you drive a Fiat Bambino, a Ferrari, a Toyota Tundra or a Ford F650, I'm happy for them all.
I never stated that US pickups are the biggest selling vehicle in Australia, they are not.
I recently drove an Isuzu 8 ton Panteck truck to get my MR License, it was equipped with air brakes,
powerful, but sensitive. Very large steering wheel, very awkward uncomfortable seating, but built for a purpose, hauling large heavy loads.
The Dodge Ram 3500 DRW suits my purpose, large towing capacity, 6 or more tons and big tray to Cary 19.5ft Truck Camper. Powerful 6.7 litre 1087 nm engine and bonus very comfortable car like
cabin, air conditioned & heated seats, loads of creature comfort.
The trip I just did back from Sydney to Perth( vehicle un chipped), 4160 Km's, 4 days, and no back
ache, must have had good seating, in that Ram.
Over here in Australia, if a vehicle is over 4.5 tonnes, you need a Truck driving license. I only needed an LR, but went for an MR, which give me a license that I can drive a very large motor
home/RV over 8 tonnes, if that ever happens.
This is my third US pick up, and my third Truck Camper.
Will I chip, probably not, but am interested in what others do.
Most of us Truck Campers in Australia or America, see very few Truck Campers., we all have a special bond, when meeting, I have found?
