Robert,
On my trip to Perth from Berrima, NSW, wed 3rd July, 4 day drive, over 4,000km's, I saw 3 police cars, one in New South Wales, one in South Australia and one in Western Australia.
I sat on 112kph in a 110kph zone, 5 cars past me on the whole trip, but three got booked, within
minutes of passing me. Sadly the Black Holden utility doing over 170kph, was not caught.
With the Ram 3500hd 6.7 diesel, I was able to pass Large Semi Trailer Trucks, safely within seconds.
Just past Port Augusta to Iron Knob, SA, within half an hour I passed, two current shape Chev Silverado's, I had already past from Berrima to Port Augusta, 7 American pickups with either Travel Trailers/Caravans or 5th Wheelers, one towing a Harvester.
Between Ceduna to Perth, I passed another 9 US pickups. Not hordes, but still prevalent, considering, these four days there was a total lack of Grey Nomad Caravaners, traversing the
continent of Australia, just hundreds of Semi Trailer Trucks.
Believe it or not, I was amazed at the number of US pickups. . But my bar near the airport, I see them every day, going past on Great Eastern Highway, as I have three US Pickup dealers very close by, being in the area where most Truck , Crane & Mine Equipment Dealers in Perth, are located. And because I have had 3 US pick ups over the last 13 years, it is like they are attracted to my bar.
Most days having 1-5 sitting out in the front car park. They sort of gather together.
Thrown in with a whole lot of other, Falcon & Holden utes, XR8's, R8 Commodores, Nissan's,
Various V8 sedans, Porche's, Hummers, etc, that frequent my busy bar.
Cheers!
