That's not the only reason for chocks. It keeps the tongue jack post from sliding off it's block when unhooking. Once I forgot to put down the chocks before I unhooked the trailer from my truck. I was on pretty near flat ground. Fortunately it didn't turn into an unmitigated disaster. The tongue jack pole didn't bend, and it was still high enough to put the truck under the coupler on the trailer.
