City water filling FW tank

Disconnecting City water and running water pump doesn't fix the problem. Do I need a new pump? People talk about the check valve but I know nothing about it. Hope somebody can help with pictures or something. Thanks!

OK.... What is the problem that you are trying to address?
  • My dealer replaced my water pump to fix this problem under warranty. The tech said it was a common problem and due to a redesign of the pump. If it were not under warranty I would have put in a check valve to prevent back flow.

Google will give lots of hits regarding this problem and check valves.
  • There is a known issue with the Anderson 4-way valve used in a lot of trailers that causes city to fill the freshwater tank. Assuming that is your issue, and that is your valve, then you need a new cartridge for it.

    Thanks

Water is back flowing through the pump and filling the fresh water tank. Eventually the tank is full and overflows.
  • As stated in the title...the city water is filling my fresh water tank. I don't know how to fix it. My water pump is a shur flo 15-085-00, I googled it and see tons of posts about using a check valve or replacing one but no idea what it looks like or where to put it or how to replace it if there is one.
  • No switch as to where water is to go from inlet IE fresh water tank OR city water. ?? I only have 1 inlet port. Have 'valve in wall to direct where it is going.

    JM2¢ ~~ YMMV
  • No switch that I can see, there is a filter, looks like city water comes to a T, one way is pump and other way is filter.
