City water hookup

Can anyone explain this contraption? I'm assuming it's the city water hook up...but a Schraeder Valve? For blowout winterizing perhaps?

and the circle in the center looks like something is missing?

Water Hookup
  • I bought a new camper in 1977 that had a "bicycle" pump inside. If you filled the tank with a connection to city water the tank was automatically pressurized and only a little pumping was needed when the tank got low.

The OP lists a 1985 Coleman Sun Valley in his profile. Maybe that's it?
It looks like it's something from the 1950's.
  • I had a camper once that used air pressure to move the water. You filled the tank with water and a onboard compressor put air pressure in the tank to move the water around, when pressure got low, the compressor came on and pressurized the tank.

    Interesting.
  • Before water pumps you put your water in and then pressurized to force water to flow.
  • Looks like a combo city water inlet and air connection with built in pressure gauge
