I must say I'm very happy to finally not own a diesel that requires this very specific oil (others will cause rough running and/or injector damage), coolant additives, fuel additives to hopefully keep the CP4 happy, etc. Kind of like feeling good about cutting ties with that hot but high maintenance blond girlfriend! Lol! :B
Have you been drinking the ethanol or just simply burning it in the engine?
The problem being discussed here is the fact that government regulations have forced the reduction of anti-wear additives from motor oil. Kinda like forcing the use of ethanol to lower your fuel mileage.
Folks that speak of past experiences have not come to grips with the current reality. The wear problem was not an issue just six months ago.
What other engine manufacturer other than Ford has issued a warning about this?
What other engine manufacturer has required a special oil at $60/gallon when your girlfriend needs an enama :B to clean the carbon build up behind the rings due to EGR and causes ring jacking and loss of compression and a host of other problematic issues.
Lighten up Francis... Ford just issued a warning that some CK4 oils have caused some long term wear issue. The use of any CK4 oil that's not SN rated should be good for hundreds of thousands of miles. Let's talk when you at least have 100k trouble free miles and by then I'll probably have 200k plus.
