I believe Ford did this to protects it's customers. Ford stated this is a long term issue and if its a CYA move why would they worry since I'm certain the engines would have gone past the 100k mile warranty and they also stated they didn't recommend this oil in any Power Stroke which we all know the 7.3,6.0, and 6.4 are all out of warranty.

I've also read that another engine manufacturer may join ranks but I won't break any news on this topic.
