- APTExplorerMy 3/4 ton gets 14mpg is mixed driving, 18mph highway non towing. Both are 2mpg better than my 2003 half ton. The 3/4 tons aren't that bad since big blocks went away. Current half tons are getting 16-17mpg in mixed driving and 20mpg highway.
15k miles per year, $4/gal for gas, 17mpg vs. 14mpg is $63/mo extra in fuel. Use your own estimates to understand if $63/mo is your whole salary or not. People like to make wild claims about how bad things are without proper research. It is a compromise for sure so just use real numbers to understand what that is worth. - Racine96ExplorerI pull my 27 ft that weights on scale 6,600# with ease. My TV is a 1500 2012 Silverado with trailing package, 10,000#, However, I would not go much more than that specially during a windy day, My 2 cens
- PAThwackerExplorerI use a dedicated 3/4 ton burb with 2951 payload to tow a 5000lb GVW hybrid trailer (21ft brick).
Buy a cheap 3.4 ton easily for $9 to 14k and park it. Take it out for Sunday strolls, and keep it clean. - joshuajimExplorer II

If you get an EcoBoost with BOTH max tow and HD payload it will be rated to tow 11,300# and has GVWR of 8,200# which gives you 2,600# of TV cargo capacity. That's roughly equivalent to previous generation 3/4 ton trucks.
You won't find one on a lot, they have to be ordered.
Would I need both of those to be able to safely a trailer that's about 6500-7000 pounds with everything in it (cargo/water/etc)?
Max tow will be adequate for the trailer weight. The HD payload adds about 1,000# to the TV payload capacity. Only after you weigh the trailer and truck combination will you definitely know if the HD payload is needed.
Kinda a catch 22. - ShorteelawExplorer

It'd be more like 5 years down the line or more that I meant. Not a couple years. We can't afford to spend $30,000+ on a TV plus $20,000+ on the TT.
You can bring those costs down substantially by buying a used 3/4 ton TV or a used camper, or both.
What would be a good value 3/4 ton TV? Or I asked the question earlier about the F150 Ecoboost and why a lot of people recommend those? High payload and capacity? - dewey02Explorer II

I *think* these are accurate numbers... let me know if one seems way off (as this is new to me, can you tell, haha)...
Tongue weight - 445
Payload - Approx 2000 lbs
That payload sounds more like a 3/4 and not any 1/2, SUV except for some EcoBoost 150s. 11/2 T are more in the 1200 to 1600lb payload and some of the newer ones have fixed receiver limitations for TW and can't be upgraded.

I looked at the 4x2 instead of 4x4... it's actually between 1650-1870 (it's a 2008 Titan and I'm not sure if it's a SWB or LWB)... - jaycocreekExplorer IILarryJM
