Cleaner wax on fiberglass

I have tried 24k, 3M and merquiar's they give about all the same results, it take a bit
of elbow and it shines, but it has to be done over and over my question is
Would it be worth the effortd to put a real wax over this one,
Would it last longer?
Would it stay cleaner?
And what kind of wax do you use?
Would a buffer do a better job?

  • Buffer makes things easier. McGuires in the blue bottle. I like Collinite fleet was better right now.
  • Klasse All in One. Wipe on, wipe off. Very easy. If you want, go over that with Klasse Glaze.
I am using it on both my Rv's and cars.
  • I have used the same type of wax on my RV's, Boats, cars, Trucks, snowmobiles and ATV's for over 40 years.
It's called Nu-Finish and is in a orange bottle. It is whipe on while off and it may not be the best, most exspencive wax on the market, but for the price it's great.
I had a 26' cabin Cruiser that only came out of the water once a season and I sued this wax. I could have spent a whole bunch more on different waxes but I never had an issue with this stuff.
I did the nose cone on my 5th Wheel a couple times a summer ( bugs) and they washed off with the hose most of the times, unless they got backed on.
My suggestion if your going to use a buffer, read up on the do's and don't on their use. Especially if your using it on a dark colour, and never use a buffer on a decal.
    Soup.
  • I use MeQuires paste cleaner wax in the Red can. It lasts a full year, IF you do NOT use dish washing detergent to wash the TT.
  • Gaetan, what do you mean by having to do it over and over?
If you mean to keep water beading off it, then yes, use other waxes.
If you mean it's oxidized and goes dull shortly after waxing then there's nothing you can do about that short of cut and polish the surface to remove the oxidation. Then it will stay shiny. Rubbing compound, polishing compound and buffer/polisher needed.

Others have had luck with Zep floor polish. Supposedly that stuff shines it up much longer, but not permanent.
  • By over and over I mean twice a year I think one a year would be enought,
What I am looking for is a product that wolud require less elbow work,
    Just easier to redo it

  • If you're just keeping wax on it.......spray wax. I haven't hand waxed anything in years. Spray it down after washing and towel it dry. Won't last a year but very little effort
  • The manufacturer of our truck camper suggested using Protect All. From all the many users of this product, it is a spray on, wipe off and holds up well.
