Cleaning Dually

Is there an easier way to clean the inside tires and wheels on my dually without removing the outside tires and wheels?

  • OK....You all may think the OP is just being silly. But have you really looked at the inside wheels on all the dually's around? They are just disgusting. Why??? Because nobody cleans them...That's why. All that built up mud, rust, crud, and junk. It just sits there and more builds up as time goes by. After awhile it just gets overwhelming. And you just cannot get it off.

I never really paid that much attention before. But now I notice it, everytime I see a dually. Can't help it. I think it has become a new phobia or something. Now I am even seeing it on 18 wheelers too. It's awful. Worst are logging trucks. What's the matter with those drivers. Have they no pride? UGH!

To the OP, the power washer idea is probably the most efficient way to keep most of the crud away. But really it is best to remove the outer wheels, and get right in there and scrub the inner wheels and rims. No substitute for elbow grease. And while you do that, you can scrub the inside of the outer wheels too...before re-installing them. This should become a normal scheduled part of your truck washing program.

No need to clean the inside of the inside wheels. Nobody sees them. Oh wait...

Jim let it go Marty drives in water puddles more than not so how can he need to wash the dual tires on the inside. He does have an older truck as I do but I live on the dry side of the state of Washington

  • I don't look at your inside duals as you go down the road or even while it is parked anywhere! If you do decide to clean your inside wheels, while you are at it, shine your differential cover also.

  • This is my 5th dually and I've never removed the tires to clean the wheels or inside tires, if really dirty, as mentioned above, use a pressure washer, but sure wouldn't take wheels off for cleaning...
