Cleaning Pine Sap from Awning

Hey guys, it's been a long time since I have posted since I haven't had the time to use the trailer much. We just returned from a 10 day trip to find that we have pine sap droppings all over the awning. This stuff is horrible. I have read to try everything from WD-40 to mayo to remove it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help.
  • Go to a Harley Davidson dealership and buy S-100. use it sparingly and it will take it off. Also an easy way to remove baked on bugs on your vehicle.
  • WD40. I buy it by the gallon and pour it into a generic spray bottle. Works great as a degreaser and for cleaning road tar and sap from metal, plastics, vinyl, etc.
For initial cleaning of the roof and sides, I use Simple Green. Then follow up with Maguires carnuba wash and wax.
  • WD 40. I use it all the time to remove pitch/sap etc from my hands. the ONLY thing I will use WD40 for.
  • Hand sanitizer has alcohol and it doesn't evaporate so fast.
