Coachmen freedom express 27rlss

I'm seriously considering this unit it has a dry weight of 6300#. my tow vehicle is a 2014 ram 1500 5.7L 8 speed trans. rear axle 3900# front 3700#. the owners manual lists the max towing at 10400#.
with this trailer work with my truck. I was towing a 23' empty weight of 3900# we had it stuffed so it was probably close to 4800#. I towed it with a straight hitch, no weight distribution or sway control towed great

  • What model Ram is it? I know I had a 2011 Laramie QC, and the towing was only listed at like 7200#. Rambodybuilder is a great site for checking out your true towing capacity. The max listed in the manual is for a 2wd, non-extended cab with the 4.10 gears. Not your average build.

You should be within towing weight, but I found I ran out of cargo room real fast. Just a trailer alone put me at like 300 pounds left over with my last truck. I've since upgraded to a 2500, and ended up with a 4500# trailer anyways. Doh!
  • Extended cab 6.5ft bed, big horn
I just cam back from some of dealers, I'm pretty much sold on the coachmen281 freedom express rlss, 2nd choice would be a jayco white hawk 27rls

I would pull it. You should have enough payload to pull it; a CAT scale can verify that for you. But looking at the specs of the trailer, you'd probably would still be ok even at the max GVWR of the trailer.

I would tow it also but I will use a WDH and you might have to watch your payload because a lot of time you will reach your payload limit because you reach your towing but yeah you will be find. How long is your trailer?
