Coachmen: Good Customer Service

When my wife and I picked up our new Freedom Express 192 FBS on Saturday, there was no butcher block stove cover. I had seen it listed on page 10 of the online 2017 Coachmen travel trailer brochure, and in photos on some dealers' websites. My dealer knew nothing about it. In fact, it wasn't even in the brochures he had at the dealership. We were disappointed because it nearly doubles the usable surface area of the galley.

I sent an email to Coachmen asking about it and got this reply today:

Good morning,

The addition of the wood stove cover was a running change and your trailer was built prior to the change and the brochure was published after the change, so the stove cover was not included with your trailer.
Regardless, we will send one to you.

Steve Brandenberger

That is what I call good customer service.

I've exchanged quite a few emails with Coachmen over the last year since we bought our trailer. I have also received nothing but good service from them. Pretty much all communication has been with Steve. He's pretty quick with getting a response back to you.

Once we had a pretty simple part fail under warranty. I'm pretty handy so I had already taken it apart and diagnosed it. Rather than have us carry the whole trailer to a dealer a couple of hours away, have them troubleshoot it, wait for parts, and reinstall, we did it all over the phone. He had the part sent to us directly and we did a self install. Really he could've just been like every other manufacturer and told us that we are required go to a dealer for service, but he made an exception. That simple action saved us a ton of time on getting it resolved.
  • How nice when a manufacturer steps up. Forest River reimbursed me for a repair bill and lodging expense for a night as I could not stay in the fifth wheel.

    Enjoy your new motorhome.
