Use the oil per the manufactures recommendation.
Fuel in the north will already have anti-gell additives.
If you are going to use the truck try to plug in the block heater at least an hour or two ahead of time...if it's not used daily, you probably don't want to leave it plugged in 24/7...not absolutely needed but it will start easier and won't run rough the first few minutes as things heat up.
Obviously, read the manual to make sure you don't defeat the glow plugs when starting.
Otherwise, not a lot of special stuff to start a modern diesel in cold weather.
