Coleman Thermostat replacement for 1997 Wilderness

We have a Wilderness Travel Trailer 1997 25th year anniversary edition. Last winter the thermostat went out We had a repair person replace it. Didn't work after many calls he never came back. Called another one and they did the same thing. Went to Jerry's camper store in Madison, Wi. and they gave us one we installed. didn't work. Back to Jerry's, they ordered us a replacement and haven't heard a word since. That was late August. We have heat only right now and will have to switch somehow for air in summer. Any suggestions on a replacement? The unit has 8 wires , only 6 were hooked up the other 2 were for a 2 speed fan in the furnace.
  • Go to Walmart and buy a Hunter Douglas Thermostat for around 20 dollars, be sure to get the one that used two AA batteries. Go to Radio Shack and buy a mini SPST switch. Scrounge up some 22 gage wire. Then go online and download the instructions from various places and install it. It is probably one of the cheapest and best upgrades you can do.
  • Here is an earlier post that has Hunter T-stat wiring for Duo-therm and for Coleman Mach........LINK
