Collision Repair at Camping World

I wanted to know if Camping World is a good place to take a travel trailer for collision repair. Our TT was backed into and we took it to an independent dealer who really did not seem to want to fix the damage and there is a charge for an estimate, the other party would prefer to pay instead of use the insurance company. Although the trailer is usable it was in brand new condition and we would like to return it to the same condition, we are very particular with all of our vehicles and we maintain everything is top shape. I am going to take the trailer to Camping World to get an official estimate and see what they say. Has anyone used the collision repair at Camping World before?

You could try a few autobody shops as suggested above as I have seen RVs at a body shop on occasion. Maybe check out any RV dealers within a reasonable distance. There is a dealer near us with a HUGE body/repair facility and obviously do a lot of repair work. Depending on the extent of the damage, I would want to know exactly what they plan to do and how. If they have to reconstruct a wall for example, you want to know that they aren't taking shortcuts and covering anything up. You might want to check references if available and the BBB. If it's anything like the automotive industry, I wouldn't trust just any old shop.

I thought about auto body shops and I may look into this. At this time I am going to let CW give me an estimate. The dealer I went to first wanted $50 just to complete an estimate, and I was not interesting in absorbing that cost or passing it along to the people that damaged my trailer.
  • Just do what a guy in my neighborhood did. He had damage to his front corner, and has had it covered in plastic with tape for the past 5+ years. It looks more hideous every day sitting in his driveway. :)

  • Results vary by CW location. Any good collision shop I have dealt with has always had before and after pictures of their work specially if they are really proud.

    Your results may vary

Does CW sell your brand of TT? Does that matter for repairs?

    CW does sell our brand
  • A good friend of mine owns a TT and had some pretty substantial damage after an RV backed into him in the middle of the night. He had it repaired at CW in Phoenix AZ, and they did a great job.

  • I would think that the quality of the work done would differ from shop to shop, even if it were done by Camping World. See if you can find anyone who had work done at the shop you are looking at.

Charging for an estimate? It looks like they really don't want your business.
  • Had some fiberflas repair done at CW in La Mirada CA. Excellent work.
