Ford is notorious for letting known problems go unfixed, for years.
Their plastic tank, aluminum core radiators were pieces of junk, dating back to the 90's. I know. I had to replace them in all of my '90's Fords, at low mileages.
Apparently, with similar radiator problems in 2010+ vehicles, in 20+ years of advancing automotive technology, Ford didn't learn a thing about radiators...
That said, I also recognize that Ford is terrible about remedying known problems with their designs in a timely manner. They'd rather keep making the same problems for years and wait until the next complete re-design of the vehicle, than change problem designs as the problems become known.
