Very good points, Big Toe.
There is a name in marketing for what you have described, which I'm sure you're well aware of. For those not aware, it's called 'bandwagon' and is probably one of the oldest forms of marketing known.
Everybody else is doing it (or buying it), so you should too!
Yes, Ford sells ALOT of trucks and always has. Yes, they do generally make a good truck, overall. No, they are not without their fair share of problems.
It just disappoints me that they don't make concerted effort to fix some problems, instead of letting them go on out the door. It's that corporate bean counter mentality of, well it will cost more to fix it in production, than to just keep making it. Sales aren't going to suffer significantly over it, so let's keep on making and selling the problem...
ALL of the manufacturers do it. It's not just Ford. I like Fords more than the others, so my bone to pick is more personal with Ford than the others.
It's like when all the kids these days are doing or not doing this that or the other and it's a shame about this generation, yada, yada, yada... But you don't really care about it that much, until it's YOUR kids that are acting that way. Then, you care and are truly disappointed or pissed off about it.
