Words of wisdom?
Unless your 2004 is all worn out, stick with it. The guy I bought mine from has asked me twice now if I'd sell it back to him...having too many problems with his 6.7.
Hardly worn out. 45,000 original miles. The truck is almost new aside from being 13 years old. Great truck and I hope I don't regret selling it. Maybe your buddy might be interested. ;-)
Do NOT let the dealer low ball you on trade in. You said you're trading it in.
Your configuration and the super low miles combined with the current market and the "fear" of emissions still will make your truck worth mid 20s? For price.
You really should sell it outright to maximize the return on that 04. Dealer will be licking his chops for that truck but you'll still take a beatin on trade I bet.

On the new truck, you couldn't pick a more capable comfortable new truck for what you're doing. No worries needed about the new truck. I am interested to see how the air assist handles big campers. No issues with load as it's got heavy air bags. My wonder is sway with only 2 leafs and the rest air.
Gut feeling is you'll want the biggest sway bar you can cram under it, but will need no other mods. Typical kids like timbrens, stable loads, add a leafs will not work. You'll see once you look at it. Although add a leafs might still be able to bolt over the top of the springs. Bagsare inboard of the springs iirc.
