I live at 4100 feet ASL.
We have 7 months a year where the nightime average is below 32 degrees .
I have never had a fuel gelling problem .
All of my friends have a diesel pickup .
Standard issue in Central Oregon .
Some have the gun in the rack and the Yaller Dog in the truck bed .
None of my friends have ever mentioned fuel gelling , hard starting , or any of the issues that the Arizonans are reported to have .
It must be our 300 days of sunshine .
My maintenance costs are definitely not more than 10 % higher than the fleet of big block trucks I have driven all of my life . As a matter of fact I am not sure my diesel costs me any more than a gasser .
Further the brakes and tires on my hd 2500 definitely outlast those on any 1500 because they are operating at such a low demand usage level in everyday driving and when used for heavy duty chores like towing a big square box.
That is my life's experience .
