Convertor question

I'm trying to size a generator since my goal is to camp where there are no hookups. I've got everything figured except the convertor. If the battery is charged, is the convertor still sucking the estimated 1000watts? That's pretty much the only part of the system I don't understand.

  • Is there a data label on the converter? Most electric devices have a data label that states current draw and voltage requirement, and/or wattage requirement. Should be some information available from the manufacturer as to how much current it draws at maintanence/trickle charge state.

    Volts x Amps = Watts
  • Is there anyway to tell when it goes to float? I've noticed when it's fully charged and I'm not plugged into either the truck or shore power it will still say charge on the status panel. Not that I trust that thing implicitly.
  • Once the convertor goes to float mode, the load decreases.
