I finally bought my own camper this past weekend after spending my child hood camping with my parents. First thing I did was build a platform my father had made for his camper. It is placed underneath your bottom step, and levelled up on site to take the weight from the steps and to serve as a place to leave your shoes outside of the camper.
I made mine from pressure treated 2x6 and pressure treated 5/8" plywood and covered it in outdoor carpet. Everyones platform will be a different size depending on the bed of your truck. They are made to fit within the wheel wells of the tuck bed so they don't waste any space as stuff can be stored on it.
