Have something similar for home...plugs into the existing outlet so we can use it in the TT when on shore power. (I did find the same issue with ours and the newer iDevices...can't charge more than one) My primary goal was to be able to charge when not on shore power without having to plug into the trucks cig adapter, so the DC outlet did the trick.
We like the shelf/drawer since there was not a good place nearest bed for books, glasses, water bottle, etc. Probably add a small digital clock soon too...
