I had a fabricator friend build me up a front lockable battery box foundation that was going to last. I have two group 29 Batts wired to a transfer switch. I added a 1000 watt inverter for boondocking. I even have a little left over room for storing the hitch when I'M not towing.
Above you see the solid piece of 1/4" plate used that is welded to the boxed tube. He came up with the simple yet solid design.
I went to the local home improvement store and purchased some outdoor stair tread made from recycled tires to use as a barrier between the dissimilar metals. I treated both layers with 3M industrial adhesive to back the bolts up and to prevent the rubber from warping out.
All in all, I am pleased and hope this will last the life of the trailer.
BTW I had to set it to that height to allow the door on the box to open without touching the trailer and still allowing the propane tanks room.
