You can add outlets, I have added several. Be sure to put them in the normal household boxes. RV outlets don't use the boxes because the wires are not exposed.
I replaced my lights with LEDs from eBay. I had 1141 incandescent bulbs and I replaced them with 36-1210 and 18-5050 LED lights. I liked the warm white LEDs.
