Cost of food while camping ... does it have to be high?

We are principally weekend campers since I have every other Friday off and I try and get to some place closer than say 4 hours away on one of those long weekends per month. For us, the (extra) cost...

Cost of food while camping ... does it have to be high?
No - we don't even count regular grocery expenses in our vacation expense reports. We do however count dining out and we have to do that at least once per trip as we are in a new place and have to experience the local cuisine. I actually got sick of lobster on our trip to Maine. :R
