Cost of food while camping ... does it have to be high?

We are principally weekend campers since I have every other Friday off and I try and get to some place closer than say 4 hours away on one of those long weekends per month. For us, the (extra) cost...

Our meal costs would be less if we didn't have recurrent bouts of CRS while food shopping for a trip........and we make a menu and shopping list!!! :S:S

That 14 oz can of coffee or the forgotten twelve pack of beer can get pretty expensive when you buy them from one of those 'middle of nowhere' general stores! Thank God they are out there.........:C
