Covering Hybrid for the winter

My Jayco 19H has been covered during the winter months from November to April since I bought it new in 2008. I live in Southern, Ontario.
I really need to get a new cover as the one I have has seen better days.
The thing is I see a lot in fact most folks don`t cover in the winter.
Of course the dealer will tell you that you absolutely need to while his millions in inventory sits out uncovered all winter. I am interested in what you folks do in the colder months at least those in the northern states and Canada.

  • We always covered our ROO, even though it's also stored 24/7 in the ROOport. We felt it to be good insurance at a reasonable price. We bought the Adco when CW had their fall sale. Since we've moved recently to a TT, it's also under what's now the Rockyport, however.....since $$$ keep flying out the door faster than they're coming in lately, afraid it's going to have to suffer through this winter without its sweater....but we're in TN, not Ontario. Strongly suggest covering.
  • All good points to consider.
In my area the cost of storage is astronomical!
I think that investing in new cover is the way to go.
If at the least it gives me peace of mind.
  • Dealers have no interest in what happens to a camper on their lot. They get to fix it under warranty if something does happens to it. You on the other hand have a lot invested in your camper. I always use an Adco cover on mine. I wash the camper before I cover it and when I uncover it it is just as clean as before it did. I worry about ice thawing and refreezing and for me it is a small investment for the piece of mind i get from it. I have never had one not last at least 4 winters, you just have to make sure any sharp edges on your camper are padded and that the cover is tied tightly.
  • Have you tried searching this forum for `rv cover'? Could it be that the expense to a dealer to cover all of his inventory eliminates that option even tho it might be a good idea?
  • County fairgrounds has plenty of dry barns with concrete floors. No vermin. No bad weather.

  • I used to cover our camper during the winter but this year I am not. I replaced the cover last year with a new one and it got ripped to shreds this past winter.
From now on I will clean the roof, wash the camper and put a good coat of wax on it. I also have seen dealers with all of their inventory left to the elements all year long and they don't seem to be too concerned. I know people say that the sun will fade the siding over time and others say a good wax job will protect your camper. Time will tell. Just MOHO.
