covers for travel trailers

^^^^ That would be great (big aluminum carport) except that many of us can not do so living in communities with HOA's and smaller lots. (Dont know about the OP) I have an ADCO on mine for 2 years. I am hoping to get 1 more year. I am sure the variety of climates affect each cover differently, but 3 years would be the most for me. I will buy another as $200 is nothing compared to how nice she looks everytime I remove the cover.

Easier to take off than put on, but still not a problem. Most have the zipper access points in the front and rear and they are easy to use. As stated above, make sure you protect the corners and dont pull hard when removing/installing.

Here is where I park my TT.. I cover it for obvious reasons... ;) This is for it's "Winter storage". During the camping season, I don't cover it, as it's a PITA to take off and put on even once a month!



Here is what the top looks like.. It's about 10 years old now, so I've gotten my money's worth for sure! But, until it starts to really tear up, I'll keep using it.. :)



Covers are not for everyone and you just have to decide on what your specific situation is and go from there.. :)

If you are a good backer, a 12' wide one would do, but I'm not. I could have easily gotten by with 10' legs, but you never know when a fiver might show up.

As far as covering, ABSOLUTELY! My roof is clean and white the wax last longer and the TT is spotless. Looks as good as the day I bought it. I see many that look like heck just after a few years. I've herd all the excuses for not using them. If you want your TT to look like doo doo within a few years simply leave it out in the weather to bake rot and fade cause you don't want to spend 20 minutes to put a cover on.I can get the cover on in 10 minutes due to how I roll it when I take it down. I fold it over in 3rds than roll toward the rear. When I put it on I simply let unroll across the top or the TT than flop the sides over. Climb down zip the sides and secure the under ropes. I used aluminum clips allowing me to throw the ropes under to the opposite side and simply clip and I'm done. T

Completely agree.

My trailer looks like crap, I purchased it at 8 years old and it is very faded and yellowish. Decals are all pealing off.

If I purchased new (or newer) I would cover.

I cover mine now for water protection, I don't feel like having a leaking roof with snow melt while I'm not in the trailer for months at a time.

I keep my trailer covered the entire off season, but it is too much of a PITA to cover it and uncover it in-between each trip.

I had a problem this winter, the snow around the bottom of the cover hardened into ice and pulled the cover downwards very very tightly. It actually pulled the side walls down a bit. The roof slightly rounded from the pressure, and the floors between the outer walls and the frame beams pulled downwards too. Now all my vinyl floor covering is slightly bulged at the edges due to stretching.

Don't buy the Expedition Cover. The roof rotted out in 7 months. They did honor their 2 yr warranty and sent a second cover free. That roof rotted out again in 4 months. They sent a 3rd cover I'm about to put on. They said this will be the last one they send. I live in a climate that rarely hits 85 degrees with little rain and no snow. Probably the most mild climate in the country. I'm going with my past more expensive brand next time.

At my storage lot, I am one of a few that cover mine (with Adco), and you can tell who doesn't.

Sure, lots of people decide not to cover their TT, but those that do see cooler inside temps, longer lasting wax jobs, and a realitivly clean TT when uncovering to use. I use an ADCO cover - breathable material, and zippered sides to allow you to enter while covered. Installation is easy and covered in the directions in the ADCO covers - basically when it is on, you unstrap the bottom, pull up the sides from the top, fold to the middle, then pull it down into a plastic garbage can from the rear and fold it accordion style. You also have to take precautions to cover sharp edges like gutter down spouts and door stops. Easily done with a pool noodle cut to size and slid over the protrusions.

I've covered my trailer and will continue to do so. Yes a cover only lasts about 5 years. But it is cheaper in the long run than a full roof replacement!
