creating a truck bed access door in a AF1150

So my old TC, a '95 Fleetwood Caribou 11J had four access doors to the bed of the truck from inside the camper. The front one closest to the drivers seat worked great for plugging in the camper to truck wiring. My '06 Arctic Fox does not have anything like this and I'd like to cut a hole and make one.
Have any of you done this with your TC?
Thanks!

I'd like to do the same thing to my Travel-Lite Mountain Star 800 (with no basement, my wife complains that it is high without one.) I've seen a Lance with access to the space in front of the wheel. He stored his spare key there as one can not see them or reach them from the outside.

By the way what's with the NHL Sabers logo from a guy in Alaska? The Sabers are fighting for last place!

lol, Bob I'm from West Seneca originally so I'm a Sabres & Bills fan by default. You'd be surprised how many Sabres/Bills bumper stickers, clothing and hats I see in AK.

  • Good point. I kinda forgot about the basement.
Moomba2002, please post a pic of your if you don't mind.
  • I'll echo what the other AF members say: The basement is mostly in the way. THe basement consumes most of the vertical height that would be needed to make a door in to the truck bed.
  • The insulated basement area with your bigger tanks are in the way. On my older camper I carried spare water and shoes in the hidden areas.
  • My 2003 1150 has small access doors into the bed on each front corner. They are fairly useless due their size but I can shoot a picture if you would like.
  • I have the AF 1140, sister to your 1150. I dont know of any area inside my 1140 that would work for what you are referring to.
  • Doesn't your AF 1150 have a basement? All the basement TC's I've seen don't have access doors to the truck bed b/c there's no place to put them.
