I'm curious about how the self-adhering silicone tape linked on page 1 compares to old fashioned self-adhering butyl tape. I ggogled but didn't find anything. Can anyone here shed some light?
We used the self-adhering silicone tape I mentioned earlier. It was highly recommended to us by Bill from TruckCamperWarehouse in NH (where we got our Northstar). So, we figured we'd order a roll from Amazon and give it a shot. Super easy to work with. Cut, stretch, wrap, done! After a year it looks and holds like new. It isn't sticky itself, but has some "magical" property that when you stretch it and it contacts itself it just stays.
I can provide pics of it around my battery wiring, if anyone is interested.
x2 on the silicone tape, not only for electrical, but any repair.
I've made repairs to wet garden hoses and fixed tubing for a pond pump while it was under water and under pressure. Also fixed a cracked plastic pour spout for a gas can.
