No but it seems like something in the trailer braking system (wiring, controller, etc) is affecting the truck.
Towing in OD won't overheat a transmission unless something is slipping. I towed in OD all the time with my 01. I had a temp gauge with the pickup on the TC out line and the it never got hot as long as the converter stayed locked up.
