In 67 I was cruising and racing with my 66 El Camino.It would be another year before I went camping on my own with a borrowed single axle camp trailer.

I saw that photo essay on CNN this afternoon and thought it was great. The comment that stood out to me was the photographer talking about all those beautiful young people who are now in their 60s... sorta hit home.

My home town in the 60's and 70's - I drove that street on the cruise nights - HA, what memories.

That truck is a '59 Chevy. My first truck and camper was pretty much identical to the one seen there.
It was a cool truck but scary and horrible with the camper on!

Thanks for the great memories. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley. I was 16 in 1972 when first starting cruising Van Nuys Blvd on Wednesday nights. At 18 I cruised it in a 1970 Dodge Challenger 426 Hemi Hurst pistol grip 4-speed. Street racing on Woodland Ave. Great times!!
