Curious......

I wonder what they intend to pull with that class 3 hitch on a Ford Festiva???

I'm surprised Uhaul would rent you that dual axle trailer. They wouldn't rent me anything to pull behind my explorer, So I borrowed my mom's Mountaineer (mechanically identical) and they even hitched it up for me.. Gotta love our litigation happy society.

I was a little surprised too. I did the reservation online even, which follows all their rules strictly. It even offered me the option to rent the largest 6x12 enclosed trailer!

The trailer I ended up with was their old 5x10 model. I think its actually a little heavier than the 6x12 empty, but I wanted to have clear view behind the trailer, and I don't have clip on mirrors for the Fiesta. Only reason I didn't use the van for that trip was because the van was too wide to leave in the street where I did the load-up. That, and 30 MPG towing is nice too;) And, the more often and heavier I tow with it, the more I'm impressed!

That's a Fiesta. Not Festiva. It's actually an awesome little tow rig, for an appropriately sized trailer (i.e. under 2,000 pounds). With its direct-injection turbo motor, it tows trailers better than most other small cars drive without a trailer:) It has over 800 pounds of payload capacity, so you can still take a few passengers along with a trailer hooked up.

Here's some pics of my Fiesta towing: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0BG4TcsmjK0Vd

I couldn't find a 2" hitch when I installed my Class 2. Would have been nice just so I could share hitch stuff with my other rigs. Also some of the nicer bike racks are 2" only.

    :B:R FUNNY!
  • I was told by one of the trailer rental outfits (no names here) that they wouldn't rent the trailer I needed if I had a 1.25 inch receiver on my CRV. Luckily I had the 2".

  • Probably a class II. A lot of class II receivers have a 2" opening. Likely for a bike rack or cargo carrier!
  • I'd 2nd bike rack - I have a hitch on my g37x as well for the same purpose, albeit a class 1 ;)

    bike rack?

yep, that and to tow my light aluminum boat on my Vue. all of my "attachments" were for the larger receiver and a bigger hitch was about the same amount as a small hitch with small to large converter.
