Current Excursion value?

After many years (15+) of ownership we are going to sell/ trade the Excursion. Kids older now and doing their own thing. Wife wants a truck camper for use on the beach and we want to tow our motorcycles. New truck will also see farm use.Consolidating/ downsizing, new truck will replace the Excursion and two old cab and chasis trucks.
Anyway was wondering if their is a market and what ranges are there in prices. Not sure weather to trade or sell outright. Specs are 2001, V10, XLT with 117K miles, stored inside, Warn hubs, very clean. I'm anal when it comes to mait. to.
  • Whether you sell or trade is your decision. Personally, I would sell it myself. If you trade it, you will take a beating.
A 2001 with 117k miles is a low mileage truck.
Check Craigslist in your area to see the local asking price.
  • Low miles and well maintained are in you favor.

But around here the V10's don't go for a bunch. I've looked at a bunch of them lately and it looks like you live near me.

I just saw a clean 04 v10 with 123K miles listed for 7500 right here in Delaware.

If you can sell it private party you will get more for sure. You just have to deal with the hassle of selling it.
  • In VA, we sold our 2005 Ex earlier this year. V10, 4x4, 140,000 miles, Limited trim, perfect in and out, heated leather. Sold for $12,000 to private party cash.
  • I would guess its value around $8-10K if it is clean and rust free. People need to remember, they don`t make them anymore, they have become a niche vehicle. The ones that are being built with new SD`s are going for $80-90k! So $10k for a nice clean truck is very affordable. Definitely sell outright.
My buddy sold his 05 Eddie Bauer V-10 with 40k miles for $26k this spring. the RV dealer that he bought his MH from offered him $15k. He sat on it for a while before selling it. When he did list he got a lot of calls and sold it in 2 months for what he listed it for!
  • Nice job advertising it for sale on a site that doesn’t allow it.

You have too much time on your hands.....

To the OP, even though they're desirable vehicles, based on the Seattle (read: expensive) market, its worth $10-12k to the right person I'd say.
    Make a great Fummins conversion!
  • On the upside, I nice new C&C or flatbed 1 ton dually will make and awesome dual purpose farm/TC hauler!
Just make sure you wipe the cow manure off yer boots or you'll bring the farm with you on vacation! Lol

If I was buying/assembling the ultimate multipurpose truck, would be a low side aluminum flatbed on a 1 ton dually deezul with underside boxes, drop down removable bed sides that make a 9' wide sled deck or drop off for flatbed use. Summer/winter/work/play, got er all covered!

How's the rust situation? Every so often I see a 15 or 20 year old vehicle around here from up north, and sometimes the rust is just incredible. We just don't experience that issue.

Down here I'd think a really clean low mileage example could bring closer to 10K if not 15K+. Supply/Demand ya know.

I recently researched what my old 02 explorer V8 4x4 very clean with 120K miles, and 5K asking seemed reasonable, so an Excursion in the same condition should go for several thousand more easily.
    Best of luck.
