Sam, a little off topic but model Y page on the Tesla site now showing optional tow package. 3500 pounds. Class 2 hitch. 300 pound hitch weight. Good enough for utility trailers, get the boat to the lake, maybe a small travel trailer.
Model 3 hitch still only available in Europe.
Let me know if you want this off this thread and I can start a new one.
Now if only they make them 4 down towable. :).
I don't mind at all.
In fact, I find you very knowledgeable and can contribute a lot to the topic on hand.
I'm not familiar with Canadian and European trailing practices but for the U.S., it seems we stop somewhere at steel chassis cross-overs for travel trailers.
My daughter has 7-seater Tesla X which is classed as an SUV. But I can't imagine her putting a hitch, too prettified, or pulling. a trailer with it.
There are a couple Tesla model x’s pulling trailers in our area. One is towing a small single axle fibreglass trailer. Maybe 14-17 feet?. The model X is white and the trailer he is pulling is a de-decalled white trailer so looks sharp, but not sure what it is. Maybe a Bigfoot??? Not sure. Towing capacity for a model X is 5000 pounds. Loses about half his range though. He doesn’t care as he camps close by. Really easy in this province.
I have seen on multiple occasions a model X towing a boat here. Always on Friday afternoon, go figure. :)
The model Y towing will be handy for some, and probably more so in Europe. Our experience there is that most travel trailers their are single axle trailers but many still 20 feet long. We have tons of pictures of campgrounds from our travels in many European countries. Different than those over here but kinda cool.
The model Y will be popular with those not wanting a sports sedan but rather a hatchback. It looks nice, although I think the looks of the Jaguar Ipace is nicer. The Ipace is also nicer inside. I think the wording they use is the model Y is premium and the Jaguar is luxury. Definetly the case. Very nice car. It was on the short list for my wife but she opted for the Tesla for practical reasons. Cheaper, Supercharger network, Range etc. The Ipace is a very nice looking car though. Really, I think the best looking EV on the road with the model S and model 3 right behind. The Ipace has no tow rating right now.

Of course JMHO.
