I wonder where and who gave you that idea? LOL:):h:@ - Yosemite_Sam1Explorer

Sam, a little off topic but model Y page on the Tesla site now showing optional tow package. 3500 pounds. Class 2 hitch. 300 pound hitch weight. Good enough for utility trailers, get the boat to the lake, maybe a small travel trailer.
Model 3 hitch still only available in Europe.
Let me know if you want this off this thread and I can start a new one.
Now if only they make them 4 down towable. :).
I don't mind at all.
In fact, I find you very knowledgeable and can contribute a lot to the topic on hand.
I'm not familiar with Canadian and European trailing practices but for the U.S., it seems we stop somewhere at steel chassis cross-overs for travel trailers.
My daughter has 7-seater Tesla X which is classed as an SUV. But I can't imagine her putting a hitch, too prettified, or pulling. a trailer with it. Dadoffourgirls wrote:
Amazing how the Tesla fans can make a post about a ladder rack for a truck that does not exist run for 4 pages.

And they may have missed that Honda is going to source their EV from GM ultima battery.
Good morning. I don’t think I have seen anyone not accept that GM or Ford or anybody will not be building an electric pickup. Probably not in the next couple years but then again neither is anyone else except maybe Rivian next year.
GM has indicated they are all in on EV’s over the next decade. Are you seeing people vontest that? Reuter’s reports that Ford and GM combined have plans to build as many as 320,000 EV’s combined per year by 2026. Personally I think it will be more. So it’s a start. I’m sure they’ll do it. GM already builds the Bolt. Nice little car. Not to my liking but we (well, the wife) was looking for something along the lines of a premium high performance sports sedan so just the wrong car.
I’ll respectfully disagree that people are not accepting that GM will be Electrifying their line up. I think they’ll continue to produce lots of ice vehicles as well as there is still a strong market for them

- Grit_dogNavigatorHey geniuses, you realize almost nothing gets trucked from the L48 to AK, right?
Have to Lol at the 3 cars in 5 years to, to keep up with your needs and technology.
Glad someone has the $ to p!ss away on saving the planet! - Sam, a little off topic but model Y page on the Tesla site now showing optional tow package. 3500 pounds. Class 2 hitch. 300 pound hitch weight. Good enough for utility trailers, get the boat to the lake, maybe a small travel trailer.

And for the OP I don't see this ladder rack being used much by actual contractors. Need to start with a open frame rear to add a custom integrated tool box. Maybe it will work for a salesperson or architect that works around construction sites.
It's not a deal breaker for me.
It's just a modest, parochial and selfish "wants" for me in case I'll go ahead with buying that Hobie Kayak-Sailboat.
My contractor friend is not thinking of buying one either. He got this small-manhood insecurity that he insist on the biggest truck way above the need of his business. All the tools that he need will fit in his tool belt, ;):B - Yosemite_Sam1Explorer

I still cant see the EV taking over, folks who want to tow a trailer up to Canada or the Yukon will be shut off by the fuel requirement.
High up front cost, for a vehicle which inherently limits the ways it can be used.
Someday maybe, but a Mr Fusion from Back to the future is still the best choice for a clean running vehicle. Maybe in another 50 years.
Agreed. Short term I think you are bang on. A decade out though I doubt it. Cost parity for passenger cars will be by 2023. Cost parity for premium high performance sports sedans is already now. But a truck is anybodies guess. I think we’ll know more in a few years. Battery tech is changing so fast. Charging infrastructure too. My guess is there will be a DCFC route to Alaska and the Yukon within three to 4 years. Probably both Petrocan and Tesla. There are already 3 Chademo/CCS stations in the Yukon. Now they just have to close the gap.
Thanks @Residender!
Best news so far. I was about to write off the Alaska National Park leg of my trailer camping bucket list. Now I may just have to wait a little bit.
Although I also anticipate that buyers of Tesla semis will start demanding charging stations for their trucks to reach the northern most end of the Alaskan highway, lol.
