Sam I don't want to hijack your thread but I had to show you this. Before we ordered her model 3 we actually considered getting back to the basics with one of these. Kinda cool and the model 3 would pull it fine. Kind of an alternative to a tent. It met her criteria of having a toilet and a sink. All cooking outside. Table inside that turns into a "cosy" (i'm 6 feet) bed. We realized a forestry road is not well suited to a premium high performance sports sedan (with not a lot of clearance) so we kind of nixed the idea. The model Y or model X would probably fine in those situations but we both wanted a sports sedan as opposed to an SUV. Anyway, the planning was fun. Back to the basics kind of approach. :) LOL These are built about 150 kilometers from our house. It would literally fit in our garage. :)
Way cool!
Go for it.
Would have been my first choice transitioning from tent camping.
But the wife went on a look-see for the trailer choice and end up with much bigger, lol.
Nah. Her car is waaayyy to purdy. :)- Yosemite_Sam1Explorer

The thing is, when we switch we need to go small. Storage reasons for one and access to the local lakes for another. We see small trailers and truck campers in our favourite spots but bigger trailers can get dicey. The roads are good most of the time but I can’t see taking the wife’s model 3 pulling a trailer on those roads. I read on a Reddit post that European model 3’s are rated for 900 kg. It would have to be a smaaaalll trailer for that category. She put a 150 dollar deposit on a cybertruck just in case she wants to go that way in a few years. LOL, that sucker won’t fit in our garage though. Oh well, it’s stainless steel, should be fine outside. :).
Wise woman! She's a keeper, lol.
Yup, less than a two-year wait but wiser than transitioning to a small (most likely, smallest) trailer that can be pulled by Model 3.
Our neighborhood, though with very strict HOA, does not prohibit driveway and curb parking.
Would need a thick rubber mat cover the electrical extension crossing the sidewalk though to pre-empt from being sued. Yosemite Sam1 wrote:

Honestly it would be do much eadier with the cybertruck (or any truck) than the car roof rack. Even for a day trip. If (when) we give up the Motorhome I think a small single axle trailer will serve our camping needs. The cybertruck with something like that rack and a small trailer would be soooo much more better suited than pulling it with the wife’s model 3....which....you know...doesn’t have a freakin hitch. :). Or at least not in North America. Sorry. Rant off. :). Besides, the cybertruck has better clearance for the lake roads.
A motorhome was not a consideration for us when we moved from tent camping to trailer.
In fact, my plan was for the smallest trailer but found a medium one capable of being pulled by our SUV although I'm prepared to buy a higher specs truck for it.
Now just after two years, we've upgraded because the wife wants a sofa to lounged inside the trailer. She's a bit sensitive to cold weather.
We want to move around a lot and see the sights within reasonable distance from the campground, so this is the most ideal set up for us.
I will probably stay for a long while with the perfect Cybertruck and 5K lbs trailer set up.

The roof rake would be convient, out of the way place to store a generator and fuel until the charging stations show up at remote camp sites. Might have a bit of a Jed Clampett look to it, but better than walking.
My wish list is modest, a 240v electrical connection in public campsites.
I might start a petition through the Sierra Club.:W K Charles wrote:

Zero pollution? Nothing is zero pollution. Even walking. :). Curious though. Do you live in a country that gets most of its power from coal? Which one? Just curious.
