Well, you can legally drive your vehicle with the steering out of alignment due to smashing through potholes on poorly maintained roads until you get good and tired of it and get it fixed,
So a touch of steer trim would work ...
Maybe lane departure system does that already?

Sort of. The Nissan Pro-pilot system works like Tesla’s Autopilot systym. You need slight pressure on the wheel to confirm that you are alive and well. In the case of the Tesla you can also just touch the volume control on the steering wheel as well to confirm you are alive. If you don’t confirm you are alive your Tesla (and I believe the Nissan) will pull over to the side of the road and turn on the hazards. We have tried this. Works well.
