I just had a discussion with another forum member about the quality of dealerships and their service. I have had extremely good service at my Ford dealer who has a larger commercial fleet service center. They have done things right the first first and never pushed extra services on me.
My Kawasaki dealer was completely inept, not only did they improperly assemble the bike out of the crate, but everything they touched resulted in something else being being botched or broken. After finally resolving all the warranty issues, I used a dealer farther away that had an experienced service department for any work I do not perform myself.
Sadly, the dealership is the face of the manufacturer. If the dealer fails with service or warranty claims, it affects the appearance of the brand and not just the dealer.
I'm currently shopping for a Class 5 truck and the supporting dealer behind my purchase is a factor in my selection. I have eliminated some dealers due to lack of response to my inquiries and if this attitude is prevalent across a particular brand in my area, it will be a negative point against what could be a competitive product in my search.
